SportsCity Academy offers group and private
lessons in a variety of sports. Instructors working out of
SportsCity Academy are listed below. We continue to expand and
enhance our instructor team and are interested in individuals with
outstanding credentials and a desire to work with young athletes.

SportsCity Academy Instructor Staff:
Matt
Schmidt, Baseball Instructor Matt Schmidt offers
individual and team baseball instruction at SportsCity Academy.
Matt is an Assistant Coach at McHenry County College. Matt was
a First Team All-Conference player at Chicago State University, and
also earned First Team All-Conference as a player at MCC. Matt
is a collegiate Gold Glove winner at first base. In his senior
year, Matt lead his Chicago State team in batting average, slugging,
and OBP. Matt has played multiple summer seasons in
professional baseball in Canada.
Matt also coached
three years as an assistant at Jacobs High School summer baseball
camps, and he has worked extensively in training youth baseball
players from ages 6 to 25 years old. Matt is
available for individual pitching lessons and for team instruction.
Kristin
Holzbauer, Softball Instructor Kristin Holzbauer is a
softball instructor at the SportsCity Academy. She offers both
individual and team instruction. As a player, Kristin was a
McHenry County standout. She was a four year varsity starter at
Crystal Lake Central High School where she received All-Conference,
All-Area, and MVP Honors. Kristin received a Division I softball
scholarship to Butler University and served as the Bulldog's starting
middle infielder throughout her collegiate career. Kristin has
continued her passion for the game as a private
instructor, travel coach, and high school softball coach. Most
currently, Kristin is the varsity head softball coach at Woodstock
North High School. She will focus on basic and advanced skill
work, hitting/fielding technique, base running, and developing an
understanding of the game. Kristin is excited to share her
knowledge and passion with the youth.
Kurt Farnam, Baseball and Softball Instructor
Kurt is an instructor for both Girls Softball and Boys Baseball at
SportsCity Academy. Kurt is the Head Softball Coach at Marian
Central High School in Woodstock, Kurt has been instructing kids for
over 20 years. He also served as a Board Member and Travel
Team Head Coach for Crystal Lake Little League. From there he helped
start the Prairie Ridge Feeder programs for baseball, boys
basketball and girls basketball. He was also a Board Member and Head
Coach for the Crystal Lake Tidal Waves. Kurt is also very familiar
with the college recruiting process. Along with being a high
school head coach, his son Ethan plays Division I Golf at St. Mary’s
in California and his daughter Emmie plays Division I Softball at
Northwestern.
Kristin

Wyatt
Mascarella, Baseball Catching & Hitting Instructor Wyatt
is a baseball instructor at SportsCity specializing in Catching.
Wyatt is a graduate of Cary-Grove High School. He played at
University of Illinois - Chicago for one year, and then two years at
McHenry County College. While at MCC, he was named to the Second
Team of the All American Conference in 2016. Following MCC,
Wyatt attended Division I St. John's University in New York. He
was named to the First Team All Conference for the Big East in 2017
and 2018. Following graduation, Wyatt joined the Kansas City
Royals and played in Instructional League baseball in 2019. He
is working to play Single A Minor League Baseball for the Royals in
2020. We are very pleased to have Wyatt join the SportsCity
baseball training staff. Wyatt is available for individual,
small group, and clinic instruction.

Jenna Malinauskas Jenna is a girls softball
pitching instructor at SportsCity. Jenna is a former high school
softball pitcher New Berlin Eisenhower (WI) and was a multi-year All
Conference award winner. Jenna has continued to developer her
pitching skills as an instructor, and works with young athletes to
improve their pitching. Jenna's instructional approach is muli-focused
on speed, control and variation in pitch selection for each batter.
Jenna emphasizes strength in fundamentals and precision-based
pitching. For advanced pitching training, Jenna is skilled in
teaching a variety of pitches and works with the athlete to increase
their understanding of strategy behind using pitch selection
successfully. Jenna is passionate about softball and is excited
to share her knowledge with youth players.
Billy Wright, Baseball Instructor Billy Wright
is a baseball and speed instructor at SportsCity Academy. After
a career at Crystal Lake South HS, Billy played four years at Judson
University. While at Judson, Billy was a named a CCAC
All-Conference player and NCCAA All-Region player. While at
Judson, Billy's team won three conference championships while also
making the NAIA tournament four years straight. Since
graduating, Billy has been an instructor for youth baseball and also
in speed and agility. Billy's techniques help young ball players
improve their skills, and his fitness focus allows players to improve
their speed. Billy now brings his skills to help young
athletes at SportsCity Academy.
Hailey Baker, Softball Instructor Hailey Baker
is a softball pitching instructor at the SportsCity Academy.
Hailey is currently a senior at Prairie Ridge High School. Next
year, Hailey will be a Freshman at the University of Illinois on a D-I
softball scholarship, and will major in early childhood education.
Despite Hailey's young age, she has already built up a substantial
client base as a pitching instructor. Hailey has been a softball
pitching instructor for 3 years. She teaches softball players
from elementary school age through high school. Hailey is works
diligently on her own training and skill development as she prepares
to start her college career. Hailey provides excellent
instruction on fundamental techniques, and also encompasses mental
aspects of the game into her training.
Marty Dello, Basketball Instructor Marty Dello
is a basketball instructor at SportsCity Academy. Coach Dello
has a long and highly successful track record in running high school
programs, travel basketball programs, and providing top-flight
instruction for area players. Marty's long resume includes IBCA
Coach of the Year in 12/13 and 13/14. Coach Dello is the current
coach at Rochelle Zell Jewish HS, and he is the past coach at
Barrington HS, CL South HS, Bellevue University, Doane College, and
Northwest Missouri State University. Marty has been deeply
involved in McHenry County area basketball for years, and SportsCity
is pleased to have him as an instructor.
Dale Jandron, Basketball Instructor Dale
Jandron offers basketball camps, clinics and instruction at
SportsCity Academy. Dale led the creation and development of
Woodstock Youth Boys Basketball rec league and travel programs in
Woodstock which serves over 400 Woodstock area boys. Dale is a
former high school player and high school assistant coach at
Woodstock High School. Dale has extensive experience working
with youth programs at every level.
